    Abstract:

The leaf epidermis of 12 species of the genus Dianthus was investigated using light microscopy (LM) andscanning electron microscopy (SEM).The stomata size, density and index were measured and counted. The results show that the shape of leaf epidermal cells (surface view) is rectangular and irregular polygon. The papillae were found in Dianthus acicularis,Dianthus elatus and Dianthus turkestanicus. The shape of stoma can be divided into three types:oval, ovate and oblong. Thus, there are significant value in the taxon and relationship research between species of the genus Dianthus.
