    Abstract:

    The type (holotype,lectotype,or neotype) of a name of a species or infraspecific taxon is either a single specimen conserved in one herbarium or other collection or institution,or an illustration,is that element to which the name of a taxon is permanently attached,whether as the correct name or as a synonym.In type specimens housed at the Herbarium (PE),Institute of Botany,the Chinese Academy of Sciences,the types of nine names,Monachosorum kweichowense R.C.Ching (Monachosoraceae),Arthromeris notabilis R.C.Ching (Polypodiaceae),Polypodium morsei R.C.Ching (Polypodiaceae),Microsorium ovalifolium R.C.Ching & S.K.Wu (Polypodiaceae),Pyrrosia oblonga R.C.Ching (Polypodiaceae),Pteris omeiensis R.C.Ching (Pteridaceae),Thelypteris brunnea (Wall.) R.C.Ching var.pallida R.C.Ching (Thelypteridaceae),Vittaria forrestiana R.C.Ching (Vittariaceae) and Vittaria ophiopogonoides R.C.Ching (Vittariaceae),of Chinese taxa in Pteridophyta are found to be syntypes under Article 9.5,and 40.2 Note 1 and Example 2 of the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (Melbourne Code).According to Article 8.1,9.11 and 9.12,and Recommendation 9A.2 and 9A.3,lectotypes for these nine names are designated here.
